NC Medicaid Shares Important Information About Current Procedural Terminology Code Changes
NC Medicaid is sharing information about upcoming American Medical Association (AMA) maternity Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code changes that become effective Jan. 1, 2027.
Beginning on that date, all current maternity service codes, including global billing, will be removed from the fee schedule.
As part of the transition, providers are encouraged to begin using evaluation and management codes (E/M codes 99202–99215) with the TH modifier for prenatal and postpartum care starting Sept. 1, 2026, when the delivery or postpartum visit is expected to occur after Jan. 1, 2027.
