Rachel Peragallo is an obstetrician gynecologist who is also trained in preventive medicine and epidemiology. She is an Associate Professor at UNC school of medicine and provides clinical OB/Gyn care through UNC health in Wake and Orange counties. As a researcher, she is committed to community engagement and has worked extensively with doula organizations across the state of NC to improve the quality of care provided to pregnant women in NC. She is a co-Principal Investigator of a PCORI-funded study called ACURE4Moms which is working with 39 prenatal practices to improve low birth weight through connection with community doulas and use of data accountability tools. She previously served as the women's health medical consultant at the NC Division of Public Health, Women Infant and Community Wellness Section from 2018-2025. She is a member of the executive committee for the NC OB/Gyn Society. She is the Associate Medical Director Consultant for Women's Health at the NC Department of Health and Human Services.


Dr. Peragallo Urrutia is a graduate of Clark University (BA), Harvard Medical School (MD), and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (MSCR in Epidemiology). She completed Residencies and is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology (Duke) and General Preventive Medicine/Public Health (UNC).
