Mark Holmes, PhD, is the Thomas W. Lambeth Distinguished Chair of Public Policy and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. He also serves as the Director of the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research.

Dr. Holmes’ work focuses on rural health, healthcare access, and the financial sustainability of healthcare providers. With a keen interest in how geographic and policy factors shape healthcare systems, he has contributed significantly to the field through research on hospital closures, rural health access, and innovative healthcare delivery models.
