Amy Marietta, MD, MPH, FAAFP, FASAM, is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine and serves as the medical director of MAHEC Project CARA, a comprehensive perinatal substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program in Asheville, North Carolina. She joined MAHEC Project CARA in January 2023 after nearly eight years as a full-spectrum family medicine physician in rural Polk County, NC.
Dr. Marietta is passionate about caring for pregnant and parenting people with substance use disorders and expanding these services to rural communities. Her clinical, research, public health, and advocacy interests center on the intersection of perinatal SUD care systems, health equity, and building comprehensive perinatal SUD care networks in underserved areas.
She also provides education and training on evidence-based SUD treatment to learners at all levels, community partners and providers, public health professionals, behavioral health and social services providers, and elected officials and county governments.
