Jay Kennedy, MHA, joined The Duke Endowment in 2017 as a program officer in the Health Care Division. In his current role as senior program officer, he champions grantmaking efforts that support rural and underserved communities in the Carolinas.
Mr. Kennedy previously served as the rural hospital program manager at the North Carolina Office of Rural Health, where he managed two federal grants supporting small and rural hospitals across the state. Before his work in state government, he was chief operating officer for Maria Parham Medical Center, a rural hospital in Henderson, NC.
With over 30 years of healthcare experience, Mr. Kennedy holds a bachelor’s degree from Campbell University and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He resides in Indian Trail, NC, with his wife and youngest son, while his two adult children live in the Charlotte area.
