Susan Mims, MD, MPH, FAAP, is the president and CEO of Dogwood Health Trust, a private foundation dedicated to improving health and wellbeing for the people and communities of western North Carolina. The foundation focuses on upstream and equitable investments in the conditions that drive health, including housing, education, economic opportunity, and wellness. Dogwood’s work is anchored in being community-focused and viewing equity as both a means and an end.
Dr. Mims practiced public health and pediatrics for nearly 30 years in a variety of settings, including local public health departments, a children’s hospital, and healthcare graduate medical and other health professions education. She earned her MD and MPH degrees and completed training in pediatrics, internal medicine, and preventive medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Mims remains active in national, state, and regional community organizations and is grateful to call western North Carolina home.
